Rural Land Management

I bring more than four decades of natural resource planning and management experience involving project- and landscape-level assessment, environmental analysis, planning, implementation, and administration. This work has required turning complex resource conditions, management objectives, and operational constraints into practical, workable actions. My experience includes:

Process

  • Clarify landowner goals, concerns, priorities, desired conditions, and resources.
  • Assess property conditions, forest health, wildfire exposure, habitat, and access.
  • Document field observations, measurements, maps, photographs, and supporting information.
  • Identify management priorities, limitations, and specialized assistance requirements.
  • Compare management options, costs, timing, benefits, maintenance, and contractor needs.
  • Develop recommended actions, treatment methods, specifications, schedules, and expected results.
  • Organize projects and divide complex work into affordable, manageable phases.
  • Compile findings and recommendations into a flexible written management plan.

Deliverables

  • Clearly defined landowner goals and desired conditions.
  • Assessment of property conditions, resource concerns, opportunities, and limitations.
  • Maps identifying resource features, access, treatment areas, and project locations.
  • Photographs documenting representative conditions and management concerns.
  • Field observations, measurements, and supporting resource information.
